She moved to Harlem from Pennsylvania, Hill District in 1933 with seven cents in her pocket. And, graduated from the Harlem School of Nursing in 1935, She is one of the four remaining nurses from that class. Also, when President Bill Clinton was on trial, Juanita was awarded a plaque by the National Democratic Committee for her support. And danced with the Founder of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in its inception.
