Gentrification in Harlem
How do you feel about the gentrification/changes occurring in Harlem?
"Basically, I have no negative feelings about it (gentrification). it [sic] something that was bound to happen. Harlem is prime location, so, if we can build in it, they will, and unfortunately the ones who lived here all their lives are the ones who suffer. But we (blacks) had a chance to buy up a lot of those locations in the early 90's but we never took advantage of it."
Has any of the gentrification occurring in Harlem affected you directly or indirectly, and ifso, is it negative or positive?
"It really had no affect on me. Rent is rising but that was to happen regardless."
