Gentrification in Harlem
How do you feel about the gentrification/changes occurring in Harlem?
"Decidedly torn - as a home owner I've watched my equity steadily grow! It took gentrification for New York to view my area as prime. As an individual who sees my neighbors being bombarded with increases they can't afford, I'm saddened!"
Has any of the gentrification occurring in Harlem affected you directly or indirectly, and ifso, is it negative or positive?
"Negative - a space that has been my community is becoming something other... my neighbors [sic] "smart" or financially able to have purchased during the Houses for a $1 [New York City housing auction program] are now so far from being able to afford housing where they have been for generations is appalling!"
