Gentrification in Harlem
How do you feel about the gentrification/changes occurring in Harlem?
"I believe Harlem can be rebuilt without [sic] highriser. Rent is high enough. I believe it should be rebuilt where Harlem (black) people can afford it. Some of us don't know other places...older people people are afraid to go out of their own home. Once they are moved out of Harlem, they don't know what they will face."
Has any of the gentrification occurring in Harlem affected you directly or indirectly, and ifso, is it negative or positive?
"So much has changed in Harlem that I don't recognize it anymore. As a vendor, I am living in a Veterans residence...I pay $240.00 for a room. I know people paying $500.00 for a room. As a matter of fact, I am ready to move back to Brooklyn."
