Gentrification in Harlem
How do you feel about the gentrification/changes occurring in Harlem?
"Born and raised in Harlem, I feel terrible about being displaced. Any landlord can sell his property for the tremendous prices being offered and you will become one of the homeless you have been hearing so much about. It's not fair for a community of people to not be able to live in the community that they and their ancestors help build."
Has any of the gentrification occurring in Harlem affected you directly or indirectly, and ifso, is it negative or positive?
"It has affected me and people I know. I live in a 60 apartment building and the landlord has become a tyrant! Landlord's warehouse the apartments, let a family move in know...they can't pay rent and move out to keep increase [sic] rents with each displacement."
